G-Squared Farms is the Upper
Cumberland's source for Red Angus Genetics.
G-Squared Farms has been
committed to raising quality, functional Red Angus cattle since 2000
when I purchased my very 1st Reds from Heritage Farms. Dick Fahey
always told me "if you ever have Red Angus you won't want anything
else". I figured he had been raising them for a long time, so I decided
to try them out. So, I purchased a group of bred heifers and they calved
with no problem, had great dispositions, held their condition in a rough
summer, bred back and raised great calves. After that group of heifers I
decided I should be breeding and raising Red Angus cattle. So, I sold
off my other cattle and started back building a superior herd of Red
Angus cattle.
We now have around 60 elite
Registered Red angus cows, and we run some
commercial recips. I have been all over the country to pick a cow here
and there. It has taken us a while to get to the numbers I wanted, but
it has allowed us to get the genetics from all over the country from the
great herds. We may be small, but if you come out and visit you
will find animals with tattoo codes from Buffalo Creek, Beckton,
Leachman, Mont-Vue, Rafter H Ranch, Chicken Creek, Tennessee Valley, Red
Hill, Kurt Knight, Ludvigson Stock Farms, Oates Land and Cattle, Cedar
Hill, Forster Red Angus, Shady Bottom, WD50 Ranch, and of course
G-Squared. The herd is well balanced. We do not go chasing "fads", we
use animals that do it all well! In doing this we will always have
what's in style; good cattle that work.
We may not have the extreme outliers for any 1 trait, but we will have good balanced cattle you can
always use no matter what single trait is in style.
We are
very fortunate to have partners that allow us to have the bulls that we
do. Someone told me once that your pasture bull was the most important
thing you have, and that your best cow is only as good as the bull she's
bred to.......We use an extensive AI, ET program! We AI or put an embryo
in every cow even with the star studded line up of bulls we have
(they make great clean up bulls).
G-Squared Farms is located in the heart of the
beautiful Upper Cumberland area of middle TN. We are approx. 75 miles
north/east of Nashville, and 100 miles west of Knoxville. See contact
page for detailed directions. We always welcome visitors (Menda says I
use that as an excuse to get out and look at cows all day and not be
working...lol).
